Beach Primrose Seeds (Camissoniopsis cheiranthifolia) is a beautiful low-growing California native perennial with silvery green foliage and cheerful yellow flowers. Native to coastal dunes and sandy soils, this spreading plant forms attractive mats along the ground and is exceptionally well adapted to sunny, dry, and salty coastal conditions. It makes an excellent groundcover for coastal gardens and can also help stabilize sandy soils.
Growing: Sow directly in fall, ideally just before or shortly after the beginning of the rainy season. Beach Primrose prefers full sun and well-drained, sandy soil. Keep the soil lightly moist during germination and early growth, but avoid heavy watering once established. California native wildflower seeds are generally best sown very shallowly, as many require light to germinate.
Wildlife: The bright yellow flowers provide resources for pollinators and other beneficial insects. Its low, spreading growth also makes it useful for coastal habitat restoration and erosion control.
