Yerba Buena (Clinopodium douglasii) is a low-growing, evergreen California native perennial with trailing stems, rounded fragrant leaves, and tiny white to pale lavender flowers. Growing only a few inches tall, it spreads outward to form a soft, aromatic groundcover and roots where its stems touch the soil. Yerba Buena is especially well suited to shady gardens, woodland understories, areas beneath oaks, rock gardens, and containers.
Quick care: Part shade to shade • Low to moderate water • Drought-tolerant once established • Well-drained soil • Evergreen • Spreads by rooting along trailing stems. See the Plant Profile and Growing Conditions below for full details.
